Ahren Unbroken: Lost 19lbs (With A Broken Back)

Ahren Unbroken: Lost 19lbs (With A Broken Back)

By Coach Bryce Anderson | Founder, Gutless Method

I met Ahren Tiller back in college at UC Santa Barbara. He worked at Giovanni's Pizza in Isla Vista. He was the kind of friend everyone wanted in their corner (especially as a 225lb-pizza devouring-beer guzzling-rugby player).

We had a stats class together at UCSB. That’s when I realized—beneath being the life of the party and great source of free beer and pizza—Ahren was brilliant. Smart, loyal, and always down for an adventure: we chased girls, got into a few brawls with frat boys, and powered through more pizza and beer than I've consumed in the last couple of decades.

After graduation, life happened. He became a successful attorney, got married, had kids—and like many of us—put his health on the back burner. We drifted apart until 2021, when Ahren reached out. He had packed on some COVID gut fat. The pandemic ended, but his gut fat was still there. He knew I was the guy to call.

Ahren went all in on his first round of Gutless, lost 41.7 pounds in 8-weeks and traded his pizza belly for abs. He crushed it.

But here’s the part that blows my mind.

Seven weeks ago, Ahren joined another round of Gutless—elite men never stop sharpening the sword. He set a G-Target to lose another 18 pounds. He wanted to lean down, level up, and leverage our 10X accountability system that worked so well for him in the past.

What he didn’t plan for was breaking his back.

Severe pain. Limited mobility. Every reason to quit.

But he didn’t.

Ahren honored his Gutless Oath. Tracked every meal. Showed up even on his worst days. Refused to be a victim. And two weeks ahead of schedule—he hit his 18-pound G-target.

In my six years running Gutless, I’ve seen some wild things. But this level of grit, and integrity under pressure and pain? It’s rare. And it deserves respect.

Ahren is a top performer—inside Gutless and out. He’s a loving husband, elite attorney, and Gutless Fit Father with visible abs.

You can break his back. But you can’t break his character.

And at the end of the day, that’s what this is really about.

Getting respect from others begins with respecting yourself.

Your body is just a mirror for your mindset.

Soft body? It starts with a soft mind.

They say iron sharpens iron.

You cannot sharpen iron without the friction of another piece of iron.

I’ve been there. So has Ahren. Maybe you’re there now.

But here’s the good news: You don’t have to fight this alone.

A single finger is easy to bend. But five fingers?

Five fingers make a fist ✋👊

And that fist can smash through anything standing between you and your goals.

And that fist is your G-POD, the class, your coach, the 10X accountability system, and the G-Force at work. That’s the red hot iron that turns dull blades into sharp swords that slice through gut fat. That’s Gutless.

Big respect to Ahren Unbroken for losing 19lbs and hitting 105% Percent of Goal ahead of schedule.

Can't think of a better excuse than, "but Coach, I have a broken back." 🤣🤯

Ahren is a man of action (not excuses).

Dude, you're incredible.

Respect,

Coach Bryce
